TODDLER SWIMMING LESSONS (3-5 YEAR OLDS)

Swimming Lessons for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Looking for fun and effective toddler swimming classes for your little one? It is very common to commence swimming lessons from 3 – 5 years of age. Pre-Schoolers, they like to challenge and push boundaries and are curious as they navigate their world. Our preschool swimming teachers and program developers are very aware of the developmental stages for preschool-aged children, and our program is designed to support these stages of development.

Young children of this age have not yet grasped their depth perception and therefore struggle to analyse the difference between shallow or deep water, which can result in this age group being at a higher risk in aquatic related incidents.

Our 3 Turtle certificate levels teach children to have a healthy respect for water and children learn skills such as floating, kicking, independent swimming, breath control and water safety skills, while also having fun in their lesson!

Starting lessons in the pool on your own can be exciting, really fun and for some a little scary. That’s why we make sure children can comfortably move from our Starfish classes to our Turtle classes where no parent or guardian is required. From toddlers to swimming lessons for kids and teenagers we will be there in the entire journey of your little one becoming a skilled swimmer.

We understand that for many parents and guardians, this is the first time you and your little one will participate in an extra-curricular activity. Our experienced and passionate teachers provide a fun, engaging lesson in small class sizes to maximise learning.

We conduct Preschool-Aged swimming lessons at all four of our swim schools. We also offer an obligation-free swimming lesson so you can experience our facilities, friendly teachers and lessons at no cost to you. Toddler Swimming FAQs

The cost will depend on your toddlers’ swimming level (according to either age or existing swimming experience), and the duration of the lesson. See our Programs page for more information on the different class levels available.

No matter the age, the time taken to learn swimming depends on various factors, such as the child’s comfort level in the water, their physical abilities and the frequency of lessons. In some cases, toddlers have an initial fear of water, so it can take more time than expected to reach a level of comfort at the pool.

Attending at least one lesson per week will help towards consistent progress and retention of skills. However, attending swimming lessons more frequently helps your child grasp skills even sooner.

Fitted swimwear, a towel, a spare pair of clothes, goggles, a water bottle. If your child is not toilet trained yet, then swim nappies are mandatory. (Swim nappies are specially designed to keep things contained, and they don’t become heavy and bogged down like standard nappies do.) Requirements on what to bring may vary among different schools, so check with your chosen swimming school.
